AISBL Chapelle pour l’Europe

Created in 1998, the AISBL Chapelle Van Maerlant (an international non-profit association, under Belgian law) was named after the street the building was situated. In 2004, the association changed its name and became the AISBL Chapelle pour l’Europe.

According to its statutes, the Chapelle pour l’Europe aims “to contribute to the pastoral and liturgical service of the European milieu” and “to promote ecumenical cooperation and to develop religious, social and cultural activities” (Article 3 of the Chapel Statutes).

The association’s activities include a number of aspects, in particular:
a) Pastoral activities, such as organising, hosting or taking part in celebrations, sacraments, prayers and spiritual guidance activities,
b) Reflection and debate activities, such as organising, hosting or participating in reflection and debate events on subjects relating to Europe, faith or religions,
c) Inter-religious initiatives,
d) Cultural activities and initiatives, such as exhibitions, concerts or film screenings.
