Climate justice and spirituality: an interfaith perspective

February 10 | 19:00 - 20:30
IN FRENCH

It is said that faith can move mountains. But could it also reduce our greenhouse gas emissions to mitigate the effects of global warming?

According to a study published in September 2025, spirituality has become “a motivating factor for climate action”.

The Catholic movement Laudato Si’ and the interfaith NGO Greenfaith, which brings together Christians, Muslims, Jews and Buddhists on a spiritual journey for climate and social justice, reveal a unique overview of believers’ commitment to the planet.

We invite you to this round table, which will feature four representatives from different spiritual traditions: Buddhist, Jewish, Islamic and Catholic Christian.

– Massimo Ciscato, representative of Soka Gakkai International Belgium – Buddhism

– Alexander Laugier-Werth, engineer by training, is responsible, in particular, for sustainable development in an international industrial group. He is also president of the liberal Jewish community of the Beth Hillel synagogue in Forest.

– Radouane Attiya, assistant and researcher at the University of Liège, is also an imam

– Alexis Versele, affiliated with the Building Physics and Sustainable Design division of KU Leuven, Christian, Catholic, and member of the lay movement Focolari

Moderator: Sabina González Vilas, Director of Programmes and Interreligious Dialogue at the Chapel for Europe.
