This exceptional library houses over 500,000 works and more than a thousand journals, making it the world’s leading reference in hagiography (the critical study and writing of the lives of saints). Founded in 1630 by the Jesuit Jean Bolland, the Société des Bollandistes is renowned for its rigorous and critical approach to the study of Christian saints, notably through its monumental collection, Acta Sanctorum, now comprising 67 volumes.
