Retraite – La contemplation un chemin d’ancrage et d’ouverture Perspective chrétien sur la non-dualité En collaboration avec inTOUCH , la Chapelle pour l’Europe vous invite à cinq jours de ressourcement du 4 au 8 septembre 2024 au centre spirituel La Cova à Manresa en Catalogne, Espagne. Dans cette petite ville, près de Montserrat, Ignace de Loyola passa une période d’une importance capitale pour sa vie et celle de beaucoup d’autres. Son lieu de prière privilégié était la cova, une cavité au-dessus de la rivière Cardoner ; c’est à cet endroit qu’a été construit l’actuel centre de spiritualité. Come as you are, you are always welcome! On July 22nd 2024 Fr. Peter Knauer sj died peacefully in Berlin a the age of 89 years. After being retired as professor of fundamental theology he came to Brussels in 2003 until 2018. Many will remember him for his pastoral services at the Foyer Catholique and at the Chapel as well as in other communities, speaking in Spanish, Italian, German,... even Esperanto. He was loved for his kindness and commitment, his sharp intellectual mind and his deep expertise in St. Ignatius of Loyola and his spirituality We are inviting all who knew him to a memorial mass an 11. September at 19.00h in the Chapel for Europe. May he rest in peace! |

Completely unexpected Mgr Noël Treanor died on Sunday, August 11, 2024. With his immense European experience, being a polyglot and a fervent supporter of the European integration, he served these last years as the Apostolic Nuncio to the European Union. Whoever met him was amazed by his kindness and openness, his commitment and his modesty. He was beloved by many and was a great friend and supporter of the Chapel for Europe. In his time as Secretary General of COMECE, he was decisively involved in the founding and beginnings of the Chapel for Europe. Come join us in prayer that he may enjoy eternal rest. |

The Chapel for Europe together with the European Laudato Si’ Alliance (ELSiA), invites you to the Vernissage of the art exhibition “Burnt Landscapes”, paintings by Claire Forgeot on Tuesday, 1 October at 19:00 at the Chapel. The Chapel for Europe is delighted to host the paintings by Claire Forgeot and to have her here to tell us more about them. This opportunity has been offered to us by the European Laudato Si' Alliance (ELSia), which wanted to organize an event in Brussels to celebrate the end of the Creation Season, combining the exhibition of the French painter, whose work are inspired by the experience of burnt landscapes, with a half-day conference the following morning on the theme of water. Since 2004, after the shock of witnessing the burning of a mountain slope on a Greek island, Claire Forgeot has been working on the traces of fire in the landscape. Initially, her focus was on calcined black and its relationship to color. Then she experimented with the fire itself by scarifying paper. Together with ELSiA, the Chapel for Europe invites you to the conference "Water: too much, too little" on Wednesday, 2 October 2024 from 9:30 to 12:30. Climate change increases the intensity of weather phenomena. This is most evident in the case of the element without which life on our planet is impossible: water. Floods and water shortages often occur in the same area at different times of the year. Floods endanger residential areas and submerge agricultural land for long periods. Extreme water shortages make farming difficult, if not impossible, in areas that were considered the “vegetable garden of Europe” just a few decades ago. Prolonged drought is causing forest fires in southern Europe to occur earlier in the year, with devastating consequences. The natural habitat of rivers and the biodiversity of life in and around them are in danger of being lost. Conflicts of interest over water are increasing in Europe – between agriculture and industry, between drinking water supply and energy production, between transport and housing. Come and discover our Morning Prayer with psalms, the Gospel of the day and intercession prayer, following mainly the prayer of the Laudes. The prayer are mostly in French, but can also be partly in English, depending on the attending persons. 30 minutes of prayer are followed by a coffee or tea together in the foyer of the Chapel. An excellent way to start the working day! We invite everybody, especially the young professionals from the European and International milieu to come together to celebrate the Sunday with this (catholic) mass with Taizé songs, sharing of the Gospel and praying together.
