The Chapel for Europe is pleased to host a prayerful reading of selected poems from Vivre debout. 65 poèmes au fil des jours by theologian and pastor Lydia Lehmann.
Thursday 1 October 2026 – 19:00 at the Chapel for Europe, 22–24 Rue Van Maerlant, 1040 Brussels.
For Lydia Lehmann, writing poetry is “praying slowly.” Reading these poems together invites us to slow down, to listen attentively, and to discover new meaning through words, silence and music. At the beginning of a new season, this evening offers a space to step back from the pace of daily life and the constant flow of news, and to nurture hope, peace and our inner life.
The prayerful reading will bring together:
- Lydia Lehmann, theologian and pastor in Brussels, author of Standing Tall: 65 Poems for the Journey of Everyday Life and Side by Side: When Women and Men Walk Together. A poetry lover since her teenage years, she is also coordinator of the blog servirensemble.com.
- Vincent Beckers – Smetana, musician, writer, actor and photographer, who leads creative writing workshops and literacy projects, and gives performances exploring the dialogue between art and the Bible. He will join Lydia Lehmann for a two-voice reading.
- Joëlle Philippe, who works in international development and, alongside her professional life, continues to cultivate her passion for the piano. She will accompany the evening musically.
Following the prayerful reading, you are warmly invited to stay for a simple reception, which offers an opportunity to meet the author and the other participants, continue the conversation, and share a moment in community.
Copies of the book will be available for purchase after the event, and P. Lydia Lehmann will be happy to sign them.
