Together with ELSiA and Holy Trinity Brussels, the Chapel for Europe invites you to discover the Season of Creation 2026 and join us for an ecumenical celebration, led by Rev. Arani Sen, Senior Chaplain at Holy Trinity Brussels. Together, we will pray, reflect and renew our commitment to caring for creation and building a more just and sustainable future.
Season of Creation 2026: Living Water

Each year from September 1 to October 4, the Christian family unites for this worldwide celebration of prayer and action to protect our common home. It is a special season when we celebrate God as Creator and acknowledge Creation as the divine continuing act that summons us as collaborators to love and care for the gift of all that is created. As followers of Christ from around the globe, we share a common call to care for Creation. We are co-creatures and part of all that God has made. Our well-being is interwoven with the well-being of the Earth.

The World Council of Churches calls Christians worldwide to observe and unite around the Season of Creation from 1 September to 4 October 2026. This year’s theme, “Living Water”, comes from Ezekiel 47:9 and 12—a biblical vision of hope and ecological restoration.

Our Biblical text for this year is drawn from Ezekiel 47: 1-12, which portrays God’s life-giving water flowing from the temple of God. The river grows deeper and deeper, restoring barren land, reviving waters, and sustaining flourishing ecosystems. The vision invites human responsibility: recognizing ecological damage and embracing interconnectedness, we are called to immerse ourselves in the water and actively safeguard creation and work for its renewal, so that environmental healing and human well-being may flourish together.

The Symbol for 2026 is Immersion in Living Water: The call is for transformation – that Christians would be immersed in the living water flowing from the throne of God, stepping in deeper and deeper, inspired by the Spirit of God, working together for the renewal of Creation.

We warmly invite all friends, partners and supporters in Brussels to join us in celebrating the Season of Creation. Whether through prayer, community action, advocacy or personal reflection, each of us can help the living water of hope, justice and renewal flow into our world.
